When I was looking for the Babbage Analytic Engine in the Science Museum. I found the Mathematics display. There are wooden shapes with strings across the surface of the models showing how equations could be visualised. Both Hepworth and Moore were students at the Royal College of Art, just across the road from the Science Museum. I would think that there is a connection but I have never seen it mentioned.
Ah yes thats interesting! i know for Hepworth, she often talked about being inspired by both science and maths in her work. I know i went to the RCA and when i needed some inspiration i often went to the Science Musuem, or the Natrural history museum or the V&A - you are spoiled for choice!

Great concept, but I’m not seeing a connection. It’s more about movement than visual.

I love this, whenever a museum has a craft I always try to do it. I think the act of doing it makes me remember my trip more.
