Sunday share
Wobbly pots
I am currently sat watching my children at soft play - its a very rainy Yorkshire day - but i thought perhaps that’s a perfect time to write this weeks studio share - in between giving out snacks and constantly telling Arthur to put the balls back in the ball pool. The usual juggle of creative mums!
This week has been such a lovely creative week — I had three full days in the studio with no other work to distract me, just time to focus entirely on my workshop projects and draw and print. After finishing my coast collages last week i thought it would be good to get back drawing in sketchbooks for a week and to enjoy and play around with new ideas.
My workshop theme for July is pots, i possibly could have had a slightly more imaginative title but it seemed to get straight to the point. I fancied the theme of pots as there are currently two brilliant exhibitions on at Yorkshire Sculpture Park and The Hepworth Wakefield that explore ceramics - both Felicity Aylieffs giant blue structures at YSP and these Elizabeth Frisch vessels on show at The Hepworth are such fab colours and shapes

I’m already in the process of developing workshops for The Hepworth over the summer holidays, so it made sense to create my own studio projects with what I’ll be delivering there. I have been playing with folded-out concertina pots and enjoying repeat patterns and washi tape. I do rather love washi tape! I’ve also been making some drawings and painting cardboard for next weeks project idea. Im trying to work out how best to use Substack and id love to try and create 3 or 4 projects each month with a theme for people to try out individually, as families or in schools. It’s a bit of a work in progress at the moment as i try to figure how Substack works!
On Saturday i spent the day at The Hepworth working with families from a recent project thats just coming to an end called school prints. We have some really lovely new images up in the gallery of the children printmaking and the work they made. You can find out more here
A few other images from the past week, I hope you have had a lovely week too.

Love the printed buildings you did with the kids! 😍
